Bet365 plans to go Australian with a gaming license
by Tuesday,30 Aug 2011 In order to apply for an Australian gaming license Bet365 have closed their site catering to players in the territory In an interesting turn of events the UK based online bookies, Bet 365, have closed down their Australian poker site in the lead up to their bid to gain an online sports license in the country. Players with the site were sent an email saying; Were in the process of applying for a sports betting licence in Australia. As part of our preparations for this, we regret to inform you that our Casino, Poker, Games and Bingo sites will no longer be available from week commencing 22nd August. Any funds currently in your Casino, Poker, Games and Bingo balances will be transferred to your Sports balance. Our Sports site will continue to work as normal. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.”There is some doubt as to whether or not the company are still taking sports bets from Australian clients at the moment. Were this the case it would undoubtedly make it much harder or almost impossible for them to procure their betting license as they would be accepting bets in contravention of the current Interactive Gambling Act. Should they fall on the wrong side of the law they risk losing their credibility, customers and any potential in the country. The journalist Patrick Smith, writing in The Australian reported that; Under the Interactive Gambling Act provisions, any person found guilty of providing a prohibited service is liable to a fine of $110,000 a day and any company up to $1.1 million a dayThe lack of action by the AFP [Australian Federal Police] continues despite Australian Crime Commission advice that internationally the integrity of professional sports has been compromised, with organised criminal groups targeting the sector. The joint chief executive of Bet365, Denise Coates has said that I can confirm that we are in the process of applying for a licence in the Northern territory of Australia, once we have submitted the application and the regulatory authorities have had the chance to consider it, we will hopefully be in a position to comment further. The Australian online gaming industry represents a massive market and it is growing fast. Australian gaming has the highest loss per gambling adult in the world according to H2 Gambling Capital. Obtaining an Australian license would provide a huge boost in capital for a huge online gaming monolith like Bet365.

Have been losing a lot
I have been putting off talking about this on my blog for quite some time but for honesty reasons Ive decided to include you in on one of the most stressful months for me ever as a poker player. Ill keep it brief, and I wont elaborate on any useless details, but I just feel like its fair I shared this Ive been losing. I usually average one or two losing sessions a week, but over the month of April Ive only had like 5 or 6 winning sessions. Only one big one, and 4 BIG losing sessions, losing well over 5 buy-ins. It looks like Ive hit a fork in the road in my life as a poker player, and it seems like for the first time ever Ill be moving down the limits to allow my bankroll to (hopefully) recover. Its a painful thing to do, but no more $5/$10 for me for a couple months, Im afraid. Please pray for me. I need assistance from Up There.

Online Poker is on its way back
by Monday,23 May 2011 Still reeling from the April crackdown online gaming begins lobbying Congress for a change in the law In the wake of the April crackdown on online gaming by US authorities the American Gaming Association (AGA) has begun its lobbying campaign in the US Congress to regulate online poker in the USA. There are plenty of benefits for the US government when it comes to the regulation of online poker and the AGAs support for such regulation serves as a reminder how many US gaming interests would like to get into the online poker market place. The move was announced at a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington DC which was headed by the CEO of the AGA, Frank Fahrenkopf. Several other influential players in the world of online gaming including the President of Boyd Gaming, Keith Smith, The CEO of Ameristar Casinos Gordon Kanofsky and the President of Isle of Capri casino Virginia McDowell were also in attendance. The Associated Press reported Fahrenkopf as arguing that The millions of Americans who are playing poker online deserve to know that they are playing safely, with law abiding operators. Gaming leaders are said to be meeting with various congressmen in the coming days to discuss regulation in detail. The move by the AGA comes while 11 executives in the world of online gaming are under indictment for various charges, including money laundering and fraud. The big three poker sites had their assets and their domains frozen and hundreds of thousands of American poker players are still unable to get access to their funds. This isnt the first time that an attempt has been made to legalise online poker. Senator Harry Reid, representing the state of Nevada attempted to separate online poker from the rest of the online gaming as included in current legislation though his attempt fell flat in Congress. This hasnt stopped the AGA from continuing it the attempt to ensure the legalisation of online gaming in the future. Regulation will see US poker players playing against other players from the US only when they are online. Regulation would also ensure that the US government effectively becomes a partner in the online gaming industry and would take a hefty share of the profits as tax revenue. As it currently stands the world of online poker has lost its major source of players.

Nevada wants online poker legalised now
by Monday,12 Sep 2011 The Nevada legislature has approved plan for administration of online poker once congress falls into line Since Black Friday the status of online poker has been all over the media and in the debates of legislators all over the United States and the world as a whole. There have been attempts to ban online poker all of the way from Germany to the States and in many countries in between. But the one overriding problem is that people in all countries just love playing and arent prepared to stop just because it is illegal. No legislature understands this better than Nevada and no legislature has more constituents who want to see the online game legalised than in Nevadas city of lights, Las Vegas. It is likely that this is why the Nevada legislature has put in place a range of laws governing the implementation of online gaming when it finally becomes legal throughout the continental United States once more. It was the Nevada governor, Brian Sandoval who approved Assembly Bill number 258 which called for the Gaming Control Board to set up regulations for internet poker. The Chairman of the Gaming board, Mark Liparelli made a statement saying “Internet poker has become a multibillion-dollar business around the worldThe technology supporting it, while not perfect, has improved dramatically since its introduction. Similar to our land-based requirements, Nevada will establish high standards giving players as much confidence as possible in the entities and technologies that might eventually gain approval.” Online poker has been illegal in the United States since 2006 but the game was widely played and unofficially tolerated by the United States Department of Justice (DoJ) allowing millions of Americans to have fun playing their favourite game online. That all changed on April 15th 2011 when the DoJ fell on the three largest online poker sites in the world. A total of 11 people were arrested, accounts were frozen and indictments for money laundering, fraud and a host of other financial crimes were handed down. At least one poker site, Full Tilt Poker has never recovered from being ejected from the US market. All of the players who had money in the site have lost out as a result with the companies running the brand unable or unwilling to return the funds to their onetime clients. Their case continues, at the moment they have had their gaming license suspended and are therefore out of action.

Winslow puts online poker on the debate
Winslow puts online poker on the debate Choose your language Thursday, Jan 19, 2012 Home > Poker News > Winslow puts online poker on the debate by Sunday,9 Oct 2011 There is good news for online poker fans in Massachusetts as online poker is on the table for debate Things are looking up for those who enjoy online poker in Massachusetts as their representative, Daniel Winslow, introduces a new amendment to a bill that would see more gambling in the state. The amendment would see the state gaming commission called upon to “establish a committee to analyze and develop recommendations and model legislation” as well as “include an analysis of applicable federal and state law,” in a report that would need to be ready by July 2012.The amendment is a very small, though potentially significant half page addition to a bill that is already 164 pages long. The majority of the bill details very carefully how the state will implement live casino gaming rather than facilitate gaming online. The amendment was probably kept short on purpose so as not to affect the way any of the state representatives are likely to vote. The bill was in fact passed by the House with a massive margin at 123-32 and now has to be ratified by the state senate. The bill is to be discussed by the senate at the end of September. For internet poker to be legalised in the Massachusetts area all that has to happen now is that the senators pass the bill in full without referring to Winslows half page addition. There is still a long way to go before online poker becomes state law. This is particularly because the bill goes through the conference phase that ensures the bill passed by the senate is the same as that passed by the House. The governor will still have to agree to the plan as will the legislature ensuring that there is a lengthy process ahead for those who enjoy online poker in the Bay State with pundits expecting that not before 2013 will players be able to take to the virtual felt if at all. Many fans of the game will take it as a victory that the introduction of online poker is even up for debate. In the past 10 years there have been attempts to introduce legislation for online gaming into other bills that have fallen flat and even discussion of it was considered taboo. The truth of the matter is that regardless of what the state decides the real decision is going to depend on what happens in Washington DC as lawmakers are already debating whether or not to maintain the nationwide ban still in effect.

Google Fascism
I made a post a little whiles back at Poker Affiliate Listings about how much Google sucks. Aaron Walls just posted over at SEO Book about Googles policies and how they are penalizing affiliates and categorizing them as spammers. Im happy to be posting again on poker affiliate forums but its amazing to what lengths affiliates will go to to acquiesce to Google and other monopolies like Caesars. In fact, most people would be afraid to post something like this in fear Google will sandbox them. To tell you the truth, I dont care anymore! Google is just part of the fascists that have ruined this great country of ours. If you have done 1000s of hours researching corporations and government like I have, you would come to realization that Google and Facebook are part of the NSA. Facebook and Google are intelligence gathering tools for the NSA. Google circles is a mechanism that enables google users to collate their friends into circles because the AI cannot do it for itself yet. I have sold domains to government contractors who were buying for Facebook but I knew this way before that. So what now? Should I not use Google and switch to Bing? Apple, Microsoft, Google are all working together via cross-board directors. The only solution would be for webmasters to do some sort of occupy movement, or in this case a boycott of all the major engines and Facebook. I also made a post like this a while back on Poker Affiliate Programs. Few people listen to me if ever and the others, well I guess Im preaching to the choir. Im not putting down anyone that adapts to this tyranny, Im just saying they make my life harder. Its a survival instinct and people have to feed their families. Im just saying that if we ALL worked together on some sort of poker affiliate search engine or something, we could put a small dent (pin hole maybe) in Google. Maybe it wouldnt do anything on its own but maybe other niches would follow? Take a look at Aaron Walls post on SEO Book on Google screwing affiliates. He posts interesting points in the comments too: ..about that type of discrimination (outside of Google itself being an affiliate in many of the markets it polices) is that the whole theory on why they needed to do the Panda update & make things algorithmic was because sites like eHow or Mahalo (and Mahalo was nothing more than a glorified scraper website) were in the gray area & were (allegedly) not totally spam, so they couldnt just discriminate against them. They had to do this big elaborate update that came with thousands of false positives & tons of collateral damage so that things were algorithmic.Yet they train that same algorithm to discriminate against competing business models based on no factor outside of the actual business model. If you create a great site but it is monetized with affiliates you may be labeled as spam no matter what.If you create a crappy content farm it takes them years to address the issue & even then when they do so it has to be a partial hit rather than the complete torch job affiliates could expect. Outsource your programming for less.

The WPT gets even better with more tournaments
by Thursday,8 Sep 2011 The WPT are to hold 5 additional tournaments in the 2011/12 season which are to be screened by Fox Sports The best poker tour in the world just got even better with the addition of five new tournaments to each season. The World Poker Tour (WPT) will now be stopping at two additional cities in the USA and another three in Europe. Jacksonville, Florida and Philadelphia in Pennsylvania are the two new tournaments being held in the US with Malta, Prague in the Czech Republic and Ireland playing host to the new tournaments on the massive poker tour. Season X of the WPT kicked off with the WPT Spain, held in Barcelona in May and has been moving from strength to strength ever since. The extra tournaments reflect just how popular the WPT has become all around the world. Since former US online poker professionals have been moving away from the USA in order to continue to practise their trade the extra stops will make it that much easier for the pros to make it to at least one or two of the tournaments over the course of the season. Since online poker was effectively taken away from US players interest in being able to watch the pro players at work has exploded with various television networks cashing in on the demand to watch high stakes poker. The WPT has been no exception to this with Fox Sports Net (FSN) showing the tournaments in their entirety and will be broadcast from the start of 2012. As well as the tournaments being screened there will also be two, one hour specials looking behind the scenes of the WPT and poker in general. This will compete with ESPNs coverage of the final table of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) as well as the poker covered by other television networks. Along with the new tournaments the WPT have also announced the formation of a Champions club which will afford special perks to all players who have won a WPT event. These perks include a personal concierge as well as VIP treatment at all WPT events. On top of this there is also a WPT champions cup engraved with the name of every WPT champion as well as a crystal trophy for the WPT player of the year. The first of these crystal trophies is to be awarded to Andy Frankenberger the season IX player of the year.
