Over the past few years
the game of poker has literally exploded. There are millions of players trying out the game for the first time and thousands each day learning the game of poker for the first time.
Internet poker is partly responsible for the boom with players from all over the world logging into the vast array of online poker rooms.
There’s a wide choice of sites to play in too with many becoming big brand names over the past few years which has fuelled the poker revolution as more and more players are subjected to the big money advertising that is used to attract new players to the game.
Poker is often featured on TV with big name players battling it out for huge amounts of money in tournaments. Commercials offer attractive incentives to play in many of the online poker sites and the added attraction of being able to play with celebrity players online has brought many into the game.
Poker is of course an easy game to play and a beginner can learn while playing for free online in any of the poker rooms. Within an hour or so
even a player with no prior knowledge of the game can understand the rules and be taking part in what has often been quoted as being the most exciting game online!
However
like most skill based games
although it is easy to learn and start playing
over the long term you’ll need to fully understand all aspects of the game in order to consistently play well.
Over the long term
poker is a game of skill with opponents battling their wits against other players. Knowing when to play your cards and when to fold them comes with practice and patience. Being able to read players and note changes in their play is difficult and really only comes with time but when you’ve mastered the skill there really is nothing stopping you.
Pitting your wits against other players in a mind game of cat and mouse with the skilled player coming out on top adds to the unique appeal of poker.
Want to find out more about playing online poker well? If you do there are a number of options to help you improve your game without having to rely completely on practice and learning by your mistakes.
Investing or borrowing a book or two will explain the game in more depth and online you’ll find a plethora of great articles and strategy guides that can be used to improve your play quickly
which cuts out a lot of the initial practice time that you would otherwise require.
Get good and those tournaments
either on or offline start to seem more obtainable and inviting. Try out some small
online poker tournaments before progressing to the next stage and if you’re good enough
poker stardom.

Poker is without any doubt the most popular card game. It is not a “fun” card game like any other
since poker can be played only for money. This way
the poker game has a specific value. It must always be a stake involved
and it can’t be played just for the sake of the game.
At the beginning poker was played in public places like pubs or bars and in private locations. The game involved a small number of players
usually relatives or friends. It was a tough guys’ game.
In the most recent times
all major casinos holds poker games at pretty high stakes. The access is free to everyone who has the legal age to enter in a casino. You might just enter in the casino
buy some chips and sit down at the poker table you wish.
The last years brought the poker game in every home. With the online poker rooms operating on the internet
basically anybody can play online poker with opponents from all around the world. More and more people are attracted by this fascinating game and try to understand it and master it.
Once the boom of the online poker industry occurred
the great prizes have arrived. There are people who made a lifestyle from their hobby
playing poker online hours and hours and earning a lot of money while having fun. And this is not all. The major online poker rooms offer qualifications for the big live poker tournaments
like the WSOP
the Asian Tour or the European Poker Tour. With as low as $1 buy-in
anyone can start his way to the famous WSOP. There are thousands of satellites at all major poker rooms offering many qualifications to the main event
including the $10
000 buy-in plus the player accommodation.
It is easy to see the impact of the internet poker development: at the WSOP final table you will always find some players who have won their seat online. Most of the recent WSOP winners come from some big online poker rooms. It is not necessary to be born in Europe or the United States to be a poker shark!
The online poker can’t bring the live poker feeling
but still have some unbeatable advantages: accessibility
low rake and speed. Which is best: online or live poker? The professionals got the answer: play online poker to train and earn some money
but never refuse to go to a live tournament.
